In-Car Broadband Internet for This Summer’s Family Road Trip

April 18, 2006 During your summer road trips stay plugged in at broadband speeds. The WavBoard CM3 is Omniwav’s answer to the growing consumer and small business demand for an in-car Internet connection. Mom and dad can check their email while the kids instant message friends, listen to Internet radio, and play Xbox 360 Live.

The CM3 is based on the popular WavBoard EV1, one of the first broadband cellular routers in the world. Like the EV1, the CM3 is also specifically designed to be in a moving vehicle and maintain a broadband connection while cruising at any speed. Users can plug directly in using Ethernet or connect wirelessly via Wi-Fi, and multiple users can be online at the same time.

Businesses are putting broadband connections in their vehicles to increase the productivity of their mobile workforce and provide seamless connectivity to professionals who spend time on the road or outside the office. Carpooling commuters can get a head start on their workday. The built-in Wi-Fi hotspot provides repairmen and service professionals secure access to their office-based intranet even while in a customer's house or on a telephone pole. An optional GPS receiver allows fleet managers to track their vehicles in real time; it allows integration of location-based data to save time and money for service calls, deliveries, and inventory routing.
